ToggleLeukopenia is the medical term used to describe a low WBC count. For instance, if my wbc is 3.7, I have leukopenia, which can be triggered by:
– Infectious conditions (most common): viral infections, tuberculosis, HIV or AIDS
– Disorders of the bone marrow: aplastic anemia, exposure to certain chemicals such as benzene and pesticides, chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplant
– Autoimmune disorders: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus
– Problems with the spleen
– Medicines: metronidazole, bupropion, sodium valproate, steroids, interferons, tacrolimus, etc. (3)
Low WBC count treatment
If my wbc is 3.7, it may need treatment according to the doctor’s opinion. Treating a low white blood cell count depends on what’s causing it and often includes antibiotics.
Sometimes you may need to stop treatment to give your body time to make more WBCs. If you’re taking a medication that causes leukopenia, your doctor may adjust the dose or recommend switching to a different medication, if possible (4)

A white blood cell count is a test that measures the number of WBCs in your body. The normal range varies between 4,000 and 10,000 per microliter:
